Double Portion
By Rabbi Yehudah ben Shomeyr
The frustration that I feel in the religious square of Christianity, Messianic Judaism, Nazarene Judaism and Orthodox Judaism is felt by many who is coming from an angle of a Nazarene Jew or a 1st Century Nazarene Christian.
Christian Church is to pagan,
Messianic Congregations blends the fabric to much with modern day Christianity,
Orthodox Judaism is to apathetic or dead and there are just not enough
Nazarene Jewish synagogues near by for us to attend and where we live
very few are interested in starting one.
So we trudge along alone like Elijah, knowing there are the thousands who have not bowed or kissed Ba'al, but where are they!? Scattered, that's where, and it seems that the internet is our only meeting place.
There is also a danger of separating oneself so far from the Christianity most of us came out of, that we left behind the things in Modern Christianity that is true and we end up just a lukewarm body on the brink of death looking like an Orthodox Jew with a Fisher Price Tefillin! Just as we have pleaded for Christians not to through the baby out with the bathwater in regards to Jewish tradition, we too must do so in kind with the Modern Christian tradition.
People, there has got to be a balance that is achieved. A dear friend of mine named Ariel, she said it best.
"I totally understand your frustration, brother. During a 40 day fast back in the summer of 2007, the Holy Spirit said to me "the double portion anointing is that of Moses & Elijah" (Moshe/Eliyahu).
That was a profound revelation to me because we often speak of the "double portion" anointing that Elisha asked Eliyahu to give him, but we don't really know what that looks like.
But when Adonai said this to me, my eyes were opened to a profound truth. I have been to Messianic Congregations where they are very dry, ritualistic and I see no real move of the Holy Spirit. Yet they teach Torah, and they have much wisdom. But because of a lack of intimacy with Adonai, there is very little "revelation", and so when I share during the Parshot the revelation that the Ruach is giving me, people are astounded including the Rabbi.
But then I also attend a non-denominational congregation where there is a 24/7 House of Prayer. People there are very much into the relationship with Yeshua, and there is a real emphasis on the Bridegroom / Bride relationship as with Shlomo and the Shulamite woman in Song of Songs. Intimacy is the real focus at this congregation, yet they are lacking in Torah study. They merely touch on it, but they have no wisdom to accompany their revelation.
Torah brings wisdom, while intimacy and prayer brings revelation.
We need the double portion anointing in these last days which is that of Moshe (Torah) and that of Eliyahu (Spirit). In other words these dualities which we see perfectly in balance in the PERSON of Yeshua himself.
He commands to look neither to the left nor to the right because on both sides, left and right are the waves of the Red Sea, but in the middle, is the pathway to salvation. Likewise Yeshua is the middle branch of the Menorah (the Vine) and we who have faith in him are the branches.
In Yeshua we have the balance of these dualities:
Moshe & Eliyahu
Law & Prophets
Truth & Spirit
Wisdom & Revelation
Knowledge & Understanding
Judgment & Mercy
Flesh & Spirit
Bone & Marrow
Father & Son
Right Hand & Left Hand
Yeshua is the one who brings these dualities into perfect balance, which is why he had the double-edged sword coming from his mouth.
The two witnesses of Revelation 11:4 are the two olive trees (Jew & Gentile believers) and the two menorah's (smyrna & philadelphia).
They are not a reincarnation of Eliyahu & Moshe, they are two groups of people coming together in the end times who carry the anointing of
Moshe (Torah) and the anointing of Eliyahu (Spirit/Prophecy).
If we can come together and bring the elements of Torah & Spirit in the Christian Churches and the Messianic Congregations, and if we will come out of MYSTERY BABYLON THE GREAT THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS, (by abandoning sun god worship i.e. Christ Mass, Easter etc) we will see the LATTER RAIN OUTPOURING spoken of in Yoel 2:28 before Yeshua's return!"
This will not be achieved by Nazarene Rabbi's, no this will only happen when Messianic Nazarene Jewish and Gentile believers wake up and start living it themselves, actively seeking out others of like mind, finding ways to hook up and get things moving.
Look, a Nazarene Synagogue isn't just going to fall into your lap. You must work toward it to make it happen, just as the Children of Israel pulled together in the wilderness to build the Mishkan (Tabernacle). G-d didn't magically poof the Mishkan out of thin air, no; they all pitched in and made it happen. Success and failure lies on our shoulders.
